My art is about exploring the obvious. It encourages viewers to search for deeper meanings in form, texture, color, and composition within our daily environments. We are inundated with seemingly insignificant visual input, which the subconscious recognizes as abstractions and then dismisses. The mind tends to ignore these visual abstractions rather than search for meaning within the mundane because they offer no immediate relevance, purpose, nor beauty in our busy lives. Subtle but obvious abstractions, such as a decaying wall, a rusty dumpster, or a spilled soda, can take on multiple meanings and convey a variety of thoughts or emotions. My work captures the beauty and meaning in these easily overlooked abstractions and represents an often-unheard visual language begging for an audience.
My intention is to challenge viewers to explore the insignificant and discover the extraordinary hidden within the ordinary. The goal of my art is to forever alter the viewer’s relationship with the “obvious.” Once made aware of this abstract visual language, viewers will be able to utilize it to search for meaning and beauty within the visual abstractions of everyday life.
I use a multimedia approach combining high-quality photography, digital emphasis of colors, and multiple layers of resin to uncover the true significance of the subjects. The images encourage viewers to question the fine line between insignificance and significance within their own lives. After seeing my abstract art, you will truly never view your world the same again.
